Real life Conversation

Dialogue between two friends on the necessity of learning English

Harry:
Hellow, Amanda! How are you?
Amanda :
Can't complain. What about you?
Harry:
Nice. Where are you going?
Amanda:
I have an English class.
Harry:
How much can you cope with English?
Amanda:
Not so good. I don’t understand why people don’t study English seriously.
Harry:
I also think so. They should know that English is an international language.
Amanda:
Yes, the necessity of learning this language cannot be overstated.
Harry:
Really, if we know English we can lice and move without any difficulty in foreign countries where people don’t know our mother tongue.
Amanda:
Besides, English enables us to enter in to the store house of knowledge because most of the famous books are translated into English.
Harry:
Yes, if people don’t learn English, we will be unable to produce good doctors, engineers, technicians and so forth.
Amanda:
Exactly. Our international relations and trade would be affected too if we don’t know English.
Harry:
In addition, English proficiency is needed to get good job and better salary especially in multinational companies.
Amanda:
Moreover, about 80% of computer language is in English. As a consequence, English is necessary to be a skilled technician.
Harry:
In a word, I can’t be successful in any sector without English.
Amanda:
Undoubtedly, okay. Bye.
Harry:
Bye. Have a nice day.

Dialogue between two friends on the difficulties of learning English
Tasnin :
Hi, Jisan. Where have you been in ages?
Jisan :
I went to my hometown.
Tasnin:
What is the HSC result of you brother?
Jisan :
What should I say; he has failed in English though GPA was good.
Tasnin:
Really. I’m shocked at this news. I can’t imagine it.
Jisan :
English has been taught as compulsory subject in our educational system. Yet a number of students fail in English every year.
Tasnin:
Right, the students’ failure in English is so alarming that the whole nation is frightened for the future.
Jisan :
Besides, those who passed in the examination are not fluent in applying it in practical life.
Tasnin:
You are right. The method of English teaching here is quite unscientific and un sound.
Jisan :
In the primary levels, teachers are not so efficient in teaching English. Consequently, students get no interest in learning English, and it continues in higher levels too.
Tasnin:
Defective syllabus, want of teachers, lack in language usage, scarcity of effective books. All these are the difficulties of learning English.
Jisan :
People need to practice a lot to develop their spoken level.
Tasnin:
Certainly, one needs more than 120 hours of speaking experience to go one level to another.
Jisan :
However, people are not enthusiastic. Furthermore, they don’t get suitable environment to practice with others. Sometimes people are not amiable.
Tasnin:
We should establish some language club to create practicing environment.
Jisan :
Of course. It will help us to be efficient.
Tasnin:
To sum up, we might have to evoke a social movement.
Jisan :
Yes, I have learnt so many things from.
Tasnin:
It’s my pleasure. Bye.
Jisan :
Bye. See you soon.
